Lovegroves offices are situated at 11 Polygon Road, St Heliers, Auckland. The firm was established in 1967 by Claude Lovegrove.

Lovegroves was founded by Claude Lovegrove in 1967. Having been active in legal practice for many years, Claude was well known and respected in legal circles and had held community roles such as Chairman of the Auckland Electric Power Board. Upon his retirement he found that he missed his involvement in legal practice and “hung his shingle” in St Heliers at the age of 70.

Claude was later joined by Warren Finn and they practiced together until Claude’s death in 1977.

The firm had various changes in Partnership thereafter with Kevin Harborne joining as Partner in 1982 and Richard Burrell subsequently joining Lovegroves in 1996.

After the sudden death of Richard Burrell in 2020, Audrey Billington became Lovegroves first female partner in 2021 and was joined by Craig Stuhlman in 2023. Kevin Harborne retired in 2025 after 43 years as a partner in the firm.

Lovegroves is the longest established legal firm in St Heliers. Although its clients are spread throughout Auckland (and further afield), many live in the Eastern Bays area or have originally worked or lived in that area.
